Job Summary
Job Description
Key areas of Knowledge and Responsibility:
• Work under the supervision and guidance of the CAD/CAM engineering lead, to support daily operation requirements
o Perform daily CAD/CAM package tooling process, scripts, tools etc. to support vertical integration.
o Read in design files in various formats such as .dxf and Gerber using software design tools.
o Coordinate internal files to create daily CAD/CAM packages for the in-house facility operations.
o Develop and tool all files associated with the Mechanical Processes (soldermask, laser stencil)
o Develop new scripts to support automated optical inspection
Be the lead on implementing this post DES
Debug the nuance between the equipment and Vicor’s application
o Work with engineering to establish design rules for Vicor’s 3DI plating facility. Communicate with engineering all design and process rules to ensure process capabililty
• Demonstrate the ability to learn and be fluent in
o INCAM to create production plating images for the MDI imager including:
Layer scaling for etch compensation
Fixture multi-up imaging
Calculate plating surface area
Tooling images for proper tenting
Process design data using DFM functions to check for design rule violations.
Resolve all DXF/Gerber design violations w/ the engineering teams.
o Process routings / part specific travelers
Create travelers for daily production use
Process/location specific requirements (i.e. electrolytic Cu thickness, plating recipe selection, etc.)
• Support all the hardware using the front end tooled packages
o MDI imaging system, AOI system, Inkjet solder mask printer, LPKF stencil cutter
Support all file generation, cropping, calibration, necessary cad edits, etc.
Lead the installation of (2) new Schmoll imaging machines
o Support daily production uptime through timely processing of both the CAD/CAM files and with troubleshooting and maintaining associated equipment hardware.
o Run hands on first article to validate data files, part specific program settings, etc
Debug any machine related issues
o Establish new part specific and process recipe parameters for NPI technology
• Create part specific first article documentation highlighting
o Critical line width and space measurements
o Process notes.
• Assist in helping the CAD engineer to establish change order/revision controls and a process to document all front-end modifications.
• Support all elements of production
Education / Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 - 7 years of CAD/CAM experience
• Associate Degree or Technical Certification preferred
• Experience with :
o Circuit CAD Layout
o Creation of soldermask files
o Creation of imaging and optical inspection files
o Creation of product routing/traveler generation
o Interpret and accurately read production drawings
• Experience in qualifying new process equipment
o Generate equipment specifications
Process, maintenance and all safety documentation
o Perform equipment qual and buyoff
o Process/product qual
o Inspection to ensure conformance to applicable product specifications.
• The ability to train and lead operators to established documentation
• Experience monitoring process yield focused on process improvement
o Ability to generate, track and present process throughput and yield performance
• Demonstrated ability to debug hardware and software of manufacturing new processes
• The ability to learn and become fluent in a reasonable period of time all software and hardware tools associated with the position as noted in the job description above
• Solid skills in problem solving, statistics, manufacturing quality, and quality principles
• Ability to work independently and be effective in a fast paced environment
• Excellent writing and organizational skills
• Ability to travel to off site locations as well as International equipment manufacturers as needed
• Ability to move or lift up to 20 lbs.
• Flexibility to periodically work on second shift or weekends based on training, equipment debug/maintenance, etc.
