Job Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety Engineer will work to improve, develop, and implement safety standards, policies, practices and training to promote and improve industrial safety and health performance and ensure compliance. This position reports to the Senior Manager Facilities & EHS and the role’s primary responsibility will be to the Andover, MA facilities. This position is 100% on-site.

Job Description

•    Ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. 
•    Implements and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements.
•    Participates in the development, refinement and implementation of programs such as hazard communication, personal protective equipment, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, confined space entry, fire protection, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, powered industrial trucks and other safety and health compliance programs.
•    Coordinates and implements safety and accident prevention programs to assure safety of Vicor employees. Investigate workplace accidents and complaints and makes recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
•    Monitors compliance with federal, state and local safety and health regulations.  Advise management, review procedures and plans, follow-up on corrective actions, and coordinate inspections, self-audits, investigations and reporting. 
•    Helps to create, administer and track health and safety training programs for employees, contractors, etc.
•    Provides support to analyze, identify and mitigate health or safety hazards for new and existing operations.
•    Stays up to date with regulatory changes and update SOPs as needed
•    Assists with emergency response plans, training and events.
 

Education / Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety discipline or related disciplines preferred (e.g., engineering or science)
•    2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or safety environment preferred
•    Understanding of applicable federal and state regulations including OSHA, MA Department of Safety and NFPA
•    Advanced written, verbal and presentation communication skills.  
•    Ability to successfully train and interact with personnel at all levels.
•    Ability to understand, analyze, and resolve technical problems and work independently and effectively in a dynamic environment.
•    Coordinate and participate on Vicor’s First Aid team.
•    Ability to support a multi-shift operation and participate on the facility’s emergency management team.
•    Proficient in using Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
•    Possesses a balanced sensitivity to safety, employee concerns, and business needs.
•    Work is performed in a combination of office and manufacturing environments.

Salary Range: $78,240 - $97.800 - $127,140

Salary is determined based upon work experience and education.
