Job Description
• Design and development of advanced simulations for a diverse set of applications; including High Power Computing / AI, Automotive and Military
• Responsible for modeling / simulation effort characterizing performance of power electronic converters and systems
• Support definition of new products by providing design assessment and tradeoff analysis
• Develop models of power systems to assess stability, transient, and EMI performance
• Verify model functionality, correlate performance and accuracy against bench data
• Run Power DC/Power SI simulations to extract PCB parasitics on module and system PCBs
• Provide automation for rapid and dynamic design analysis and assessment
• Development of design calculators to accurately model performance of power converters
• Development of tools for enabling customers to architect, simulate, and configure power systems
• Writing specifications and working closely with other organizations to insure that models meet customer and market requirements
• Working independently and with other members of the team on various projects involving Vicor Power Components
• Creating documentation and training material for customers and Field Application Engineers
Education / Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, MSEE a plus
• 3+ years experience in power electronics design and/or applications
• Experience designing DC-DC and/or AC-DC power electronics and systems
• Experience simulating power electronics converters and systems
• Experience with modeling and simulating microcontroller firmware and state machines
• Knowledge of simulation tools such as Simplis/Simetrix, PSPICE, LTSpice, Qspice, MATLAB, SIMULINK
• Experience with PCB simulation tools (Altium, Cadence Power DC, Power SI, CST) for analyzing and optimizing Power Delivery Networks a plus
• Excellent understanding of analog design and an analytical approach to engineering
• Understanding of feedback and control systems, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) design
• Comfortable with lab equipment used in the characterization and design of power supplies and systems (oscilloscopes, DMMs, Network Analyzers, EMI analyzers, loads, sources, etc.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting at a technical level
• Ability to manage projects and work with other departments to meet deadlines and communicate critical design goals
• Willingness to learn and adopt the use of software tools in support of job function required

Salary Range: $78,240 - $97,800 - $127,140
