Job Summary
Vicor is looking for a highly motivated material scientist to spearhead new polymer adhesives and compounds. Candidate will have a key role in the development of materials and processes used in Vicor next generation 5G based products. Vicor 5G based product evolution will be leading the industry for power conversion packaging and power density. This is a hands on position spending much of your time in a laboratory setting.
Job Description
- Serves as a technical lead on the compounding and production of new cutting edge materials used within Vicor ChiPs (Converter Housed in Package)
- Works to develop robust thermosetting polymer materials that work with our new generation of 5G products (epoxies, polyurethanes, etc.).
- Experience mixing and compounding highly filled systems to meet performance specifications.
- Interfaces and collaborates with outside resources, such as other companies and local universities to expand upon our in house capabilities.
- Responsible for coordination of bringing new materials from benchtop to full production.
- Takes ownership of the compound process from material procurement and incoming inspection, to final quality control and packaging.
- Provides hands-on in processing operations including polymer processing, data acquisition, data summary, data analysis, preparation of presentations and reports.
- Develops and maintains SOP and quality control documentation.
Education / Qualifications
- Ideal candidates will have an MS or PhD in polymer science, chemical engineering, or material science.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience with at least 4 years of formulating thermosetting polymer compounds and adhesives.
- Experience dealing with toll manufacturers would be a plus.
- Design experimental plans and provide clear interpretation of results.
- Competent with laboratory analysis (TGA, TMA, DSC, FTiR) of formulations and raw materials commonly used with thermoset materials.
- Must have experience preparing SOP documentation and be highly organized.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead/work within a team setting.
- Able to work in a cross-functional fast paced team environment.
- Strong presentation skills, comfortable presenting to senior leadership.
- The ability to drive projects to completion with minimal involvement from management.

Compensation Data
Salary Range:
$105,000 - $140,000
Please note: This range is based on our current market driven pay structures. Individual salaries are determined based upon a variety of factors including but not limited to, a candidates overall qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience as well as company internal equity.
