Sr Field Applications Engineer

This individual can be located in Andover, MA, Chicago, IL, or Santa Clara, CA

Vicor is seeking a strong technical contributor for its Industrial Business Unit (IBU) field applications team. This self-motivated individual will ensure success in all aspects of customer technical support for the IBU including distributor support and training. In addition, this role will serve as a liaison for the application of products, demonstration boards, reference designs, and the development of application notes and tools, as it pertains to direct customer support. This individual should have a strong technical background and be capable of gaining support and coordinating activities across a dynamic organization.

Job Description

Responsibilities
•    Evaluate/recommend products in support of customer design activity
•    Work with engineering and applications teams to define new product concepts and to identify new applications for Vicor technologies
•    Troubleshoot and optimize customer systems which use Vicor products
•    Assist scheduled product training and technical seminars for Vicor’s channel partners 
•    Assist customers in the design, simulation, testing, and optimization of external circuitry used in conjunction with Vicor products
•    Work with members of Vicor’s corporate marketing team to develop and publish technical content including white papers, case studies, training materials, etc.
•    Periodic support coverage of the Technical Support Call Center and incoming email to assist customers on product knowledge and product use questions/issues
•    Work closely with Vicor’s Engineering, Quality, and Applications teams to solve complex customer challenges
•    Perform lab work and support for the worldwide FAE team interfacing with the Product Development team
•    Back up for FAE support in any territory or any Top 100 customer when assigned FAE is unavailable
 

Education / Qualifications

•    10 years of experience in engineering applications role related to analog, mixed signal, and/or power electronics.
•    BSEE or equivalent
•    Knowledge of analog and/or power integrated circuits and the application into industrial markets
•    Self-motivated with a proven track record in technical marketing or applications role
•    Written and creative skills demonstrated through technical content including presentations and white papers
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skiklls with a keen ability to communicate solutions to complex problems
•    Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of time
