Job Description
Electrolytic Cu plating
Spend some time at our offsite partner in NH learning the existing copper plating brightener systems and plating processes used in the fabrication of Vicor product
Support the installation of (2) vertical plating lines onsite at the Andover facility
Setup and dose initial chemistry
Establish dosing protocols
Establish plating recipes
Qualify each plating bath
Manage the daily operation of the plating line post qualification
Establish daily production process controls
Establish all quality checks
Train line technicians on the operation for the vertical cell
Train directly with chemical suppliers to develop wave forms and recipes to achieve high aspect ratio plating results
Establish preventative maintenance schedules for steady state plating operations
Specifically responsible for (in each focus area):
Establishing plating recipes (DC and pulse waveforms)
Establishing process/product steady state quality checks
Introducing, testing and qualify new electrolyte solutions
Establishing analysis and maintenance frequencies for all process equipment / chemistries
Establishing cleaning protocols for all equipment/chemistries
Performing R&D to support new materials/technology
Supporting triage and working with the Vendor and onsite maintenance teams relative to any equipment down time
Establishing SPC and line/chemistry metrics
Overseeing and training engineers and line technicians
Process and operational efficiency projects
Education / Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or associated discipline
Minimum of 0 - 3 years experience gained through co-op or internships, ideally working in manufacturing or pcb fabrication .
Experience delivering both daily and long term initiatives
Experience leading multiple projects in parallel
Experience in specifying equipment, qualification testing and equipment acceptance/buyoff procedures
Experience with process improvement and/ or new product implementation
Troubleshooting chemical and equipment processing interactions
Demonstrated capability in applying SPC, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, etc.
Solid skills in problem solving, statistics, manufacturing quality, and quality principles
Ability to successfully train production personnel
Ability to understand, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems
Ability to work independently and be effective in a fast paced environment
Excellent writing and organizational skills
